Miami Hurricanes Ranked No. 18 plus highlights through the week
The Miami Hurricanes checked in at No. 18 in the preseason Amway Coaches Poll released today. This puts Miami at the number 3 spot between the ranked Florida rivals (16. UF and 3. FSU), prior to the start of the 2017 season.
Here are some Canes nuggets as we head towards the end of the week:
- The University of Miami football program announced today that it has agreed to a home-and-home series with Temple University, September 5, 2020 (Hard Rock Stadium) and September 23, 2023 (Philadelphia).
- Miami also announced Monday that it will host Central Michigan University in a nonconference game at Hard Rock Stadium on September 21, 2019.
- Mark Richt on internal optimism and optimism from the Canes fan base: “I think that’s true everywhere. Everybody is excited about the season. Everybody is undefeated and thinking their team has a chance to do great things. We expect to do great things here. I like it when the fans get excited. I like when fans have high expectations. We want those expectations. We’re embracing it. We’re trying to practice like a Cane so we’ll be able to play like a Cane.”
- Standout LB Michael Pinckney was observed on rehab bike and also did not participate in some team drills- extent of possible injury has not been identified. The sophomore trio of linebackers, Shaquille Quarterman, Michael Pinckney and Zach McCloud are looking towards big expectations of themselves in Year 2.
