Miami Hurricans Basketball continues asserting its dominance with a impressive 82-46 win over South Carolina State. In a game where Miami was able to spread the ball, they took advantage of an under matched South Carolina team.  Miami is on a 3 game win steak and improved their record to 7-2. Brown was one day removed from being names ACC freshman of the week and built on his already impressive resume. Brown recorded a triple double with 11 rebounds, 10 assists, and 11 points. His 11 assists accounted for almost half of the 24 assists the Canes had all game. He is only the second player in Miami history to record a triple double and the first freshman at that.

The other shining star for this young team was DJ Vasiljevic. The freshman has not been shy about his shots behind the arc. Coach Jim Larranaga has been very vocal in his confidence in DJ’s ability to shoot it from deep. He was able to connect on 5-11 from deep and was the leading scorer with 17 points total for the game.

The team also got meaningful minutes from Ja’Quan Newton and Davon Reed who combined for 26 points, 11 assist, and 7 rebounds as well. The team as a whole shot 53% for the game and 40% from behind the arc as well. The season high in assist is definitely attributed to t a balanced offensive attack for the Canes. The teams next game is against Florida Atlantic University on Friday December 16th.
